Damian Lacey
Chief Executive Officer

Damian Lacey has worked in the deaf industry for over 20 years. He has been Chief Executive Officer of Deaf Services Queensland for three years and the CEO of Deaf Children Australia for 12 years.

His achievements include CEO of the Year Runner Up Award for Equity Trustee's Not for Profit Awards in 2006, Finalist of the EQT CEO Innovation Awards in 2002 and President Service Award for ACROD in 2002.

Prior to joining Deaf Children Australia, Damian was the Chief Executive Officer of the Royal South Australia Deaf Society for thirteen years.

Much of Damian's work has been as an advocate, such as his involvement with the establishment of a National Relay Service. Damian has also been a Board member of ACROD, the National Industry for Disability Services for many years.

As a Youth Worker, Damian started with the Victorian Deaf Society before moving to the Royal Tasmanian Society for the Blind and Deaf as a Welfare Worker.

Damian's academic achievements include Diploma in Youth and Community Work (1976) and NAATI L3 Auslan Interpreting.

Brett Casey
General Manager - Deaf Services

Brett has been General Manger of Deaf Services Queensland since 2004. Prior to this, Brett spent a considerable part of his working life in the deaf field, in both advocacy and service organisations.  He has served as Manager and Board Member of the Australian Association of the Deaf and is a member of the World Federation of the Deaf Human Rights Expert Group.

Brett’s academic achievements include a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Arts. Brett’s interests lies in International, Human Rights and Discrimination law. He has published a number of papers and articles on Deaf topics in academic journals.

Angelo Toscano
General Manager – Business and Finance

Angelo has been with Deaf Services Queensland and Deaf Children Australia for 16 months.  Prior to joining the organisation, Angelo worked as a senior manager of the Shared Services Division in the corporate sector of a large energy company.   Angelo has a strong finance and commercial background which is supported by academic achievements including a Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Professional Accounting.
