Our Community Access Service supports Deaf and hard of hearing members of the community and their families. A team of qualified community workers who are bi-lingual in Auslan and English who

  • Works directly with Deaf individuals and families to facilitates access to government and community agencies
  • Assists Deaf people, their families and external organisations
  • Provides a 'Walk in' Service
  • Conducts Australian Sign Language (Auslan) and Baby Sign Classes
  • Promotes understanding of deafness through Deafness Awareness Training for corporate, government and community organisations
  • Lobbies for the development of programs to meet community needs
  • Outreaches to rural and regional areas.

Walk In Service

Deaf people can meet with an experienced Community Worker to talk about what they want or need on a face-to-face basis during allocated times at offices around the State.

Learn Auslan

By learning the fundamentals of Auslan in our fun interactive classes, you can share the language with others and ultimately communicate with deaf people who use Auslan as their preferred language.

Baby Sign

Attending the six (6) week Baby Sign class can give parents and care givers skills to connect in a meaningful way with their baby or toddler using basic key word signs. Children between the ages of 2 months and 5 years who are hearing or deaf and their carers attend the class.

Deafness Awareness Training (DAT)

By holding a Deafness Awareness Training session, organisations and community groups deepen their understanding of some key issues relating to deafness and Deaf culture, and communicating with deaf people.


Youth Program

Deaf Youth Service aims to ensure equality of opportunity for all young deaf people and assist them to achieve their potential as empowered individuals through access, information, advocacy and education.

Community Education

The community education program is designed to enhance knowledge and skills of Deaf people, supporting them in life long learning and independent living.  Workshops are for any deaf and hard of hearing people. Communication access provided through Auslan interpreters.
